It’s been a long offseason and we’ve been dormant for various reasons. The White Sox are playing their first spring training game so that’s a good enough excuse to being our 2011 coverage. First, let’s get it started by recapping some bits and pieces of the offseason in the White Sox minor leagues.
The offseason is prospect rankings season. I’ll have a post compiling various White Sox prospect rankings soon, but for now let’s just take a look at where Sox prospects sat in MLB rankings (note: Fan Graphs hasn’t posted theirs yet and I don’t think John Sickels has either so they aren’t on the list).

Winter leagues are good for baseball junkies looking for some stats to look at when snow is on the ground. As far as I’m concerned, that might be all they’re good for. It’s hard to take anything substantial from them, but here is a nifty link to all of the White Sox stats from the winter. The non-AFL notables: Infante struggling with his control in Venezuela (9 BB in 6 IP), Jhonny Nunez dominating in the Dominican (17 K, 4 BB in 17.1 IP) and Hector Santiago doing well in Puerto Rico (26 K, 11 BB in 23.2 IP).
