8/15/2014 Recap: Danish’s unbelievable streaks come to an end

It was a day for the power arms as Andre Reinzo, Chris Bassitt, Tyler Danish, Luis Martinez, and Spencer Adams toed the rubber for the White Sox during Friday’s action.
Durham 1, Charlotte 0 (11 innings)
It was a pitchers duel in Durham as Andre Reinzo threw 4.2 no-hit innings but received no support from his offense. In fact, the Knights didn’t get their first hit until Josh Phegley singled leading off the 9th inning. With the loss, the Knights have now lost four straight.
Birmingham 3, Jackson 1
Chris Bassitt was dominate as he throttled the Generals over his seven innings. Bassitt didn’t allowed an earned run or a walk, while striking out eight. Over Bassitt’s last two starts he has thrown 13 scoreless innings while striking out 19 and only walking two. Dan Black doubled and Chris Curley went 2-4 with a triple and that was all the offense the Barons would need for the win.
Wilmington 5, Winston-Salem 3
When Tyler Danish gave up two runs in the fourth, it snapped an unbelievable 25 inning scoreless streak and 10 consecutive innings of no-hit ball. His final line was still impressive however, six innings, two runs, four hits, and one walk to four strikeouts. Many scouts were surprised when the Sox promoted Danish to Winston-Salem, but over his last ten starts with the Dash he has a nearly spotless 1.48 ERA. Offensively it was a lackluster day, Cleuluis Rondon, Courtney Hawkins,  and Jake Peter all went 1-4 and Trey Michalczewski went 1-3 with a walk.
Kannapolis 6, Greensboro 3
Shortshop Eddy Alvarez went 2-4 with a double and a walk and second basemen Christian Stringer went 3-5 with a home run to lead the Intimidators past the Grasshoppers. Catcher Jeremy Dowdy had a perfect night at a plate, going 2-2 with two walks.
Great Falls 8, Grand Junction 6
Greats Falls scored four times in the 9th to snatch the victory from the Grand Junction Rockies.  19 year-old Venezuelan Luis Martinez gave up 7 hits and 3 walks over his 5.1 innings, but only gave up one run, striking out four. Mason Robbins went 2-5 with a double and a home run and Dillion Haupt went 2-5 with a home run to push the Voyagers to the win.
AZL Brewers 4, AZL White Sox 1
2014 2nd round draft pick Spencer Adams had another quality start, going five innings, allowing two runs on four hits and one walk, while striking out five. The 18 year-old has an insane 54 strikeouts to just 4 walks during his 39.2 professional innings.
