5/10 recap: Jared Mitchell lives

It’s been easy to forget about Jared Mitchell lately. He hasn’t performed well on the field in recent years, but Saturday he had the best day in a slow day in the White Sox minors.
Kannapolis was postponed and Winston-Salem got suspended in the fifth inning (shortened box score here). It’s worth noting that Francelis Montas (4.1 IP, 0 R, 6 K, 0 BB, 3 H) had a great start going for the Dash.
Buffalo 8, Knights 3
Carlos Sanchez 0-4, 4 K (ouch)
Josh Phegley 2-4, HR #3, K
Matt Davidson 0-4, 3 K (also ouch)
Jared Mitchell 3-3, 2B
Dylan Axelrod 4 IP, 4 R, 2 K, 5 BB, 5 H
Barons 2, Pensacola 1
Micah Johnson 1-5, 2 K
Jeff Keppinger 2-3, BB (rehab)
Trayce Thompson 1-4, BB, 2 K
Michael Earley 3-4
Nick McCully 7 IP, R, 1 K, 1 BB, 3 H
Chris Curley had a walk-off single with two outs and the bases loaded in the bottom of the ninth when the game was tied 1-1.
Star of the day: Jared Mitchell
Mitchell’s 3-for-3 day showed he still has some life. It only brought his average up to .197, but he does have 21 walks in 104 plate appearances. On the flipside he has 41 strikeouts so far. That’s obviously not good enough. It’s hard to see Mitchell still being in any future plans for the White Sox and it’s likely he will be with another organization in the coming years.
