Star of the Day: Tim Anderson blasted his a walk-off homer win the game for the Dash. It’s been an excellent stretch for the 2013 1st round draft pick, he’s hitting .404/.408/.660 over his last ten games. Considering this was thought to be an aggressive assignment for the 20 year old, his season line of .288/.317/.455 is extremely impressive.
Who is Hot: With the demotion of Marcus Semien to Charlotte, the incumbent infielders responded to the position scarcity challenge. Carlos Sanchez, playing 2B, went 3-5 with a double and a stolen base. Tyler Saladino, playing 3B, went 3-4 with a double. And Matt Davidson, DH’ing tonight, hit his 7th homer. Kevan Smith continues his assault on AA pitching by launching his fourth homer of the season. Smith is ridiculously hot right now, hitting .441/.537/.735 in his last ten games. Trey Michalczewski hit his 1st over the fence homer (his previous homer was an inside the parker) and tripled, driving in three runs for the Intimidators.
Who is Not: Former supplementary 1st round pick Keenyn Walker was demoted from Birmingham to Winston-Salem. Walker was struggling badly with the Barons, hitting .131/.236/.236 thus far for them. Courtney Hawkins has cooled from his hot start to season, hitting .211/.348/.368 over his last ten games. The good news on Hawkins is that he is continuing to coax walks and is avoiding the sky high strikeout totals that plagued his last season.
