The daily recap took two days off while the FutureSox staff focused on the MLB Draft, it is after all the biggest days of traffic on the site, but it’s back to recap what happened over the weekend for White Sox minor leaguers. Johnson hasn’t been the 2013 version of himself since being demoted to Charlotte and this start added more fire to the worries. The Sox and Johnson continue to say he’s not hurt, but a velocity dip and a major performance dip make it easy to have some doubts.

Montas has emerged as one of the hottest prospects in the system. Since starting the season on the DL, the right-hander the White Sox got in the Jake Peavy trade has a 1.23 ERA with 46 K and 6 BB in 44 IP. He even got 11 groundouts to just one flyout on Friday. He walked 50 in 111 innings last year so the newfound control is surprising, but if he can sustain this he’s right there with Tyler Danish for top pitching prospect in the system (until Carlos Rodon signs).

That’s more like it was Hawkins, who still has a ton of strikeouts (65 in 245 plate appearances; 26.5%), but has cut that number way down from last year (160 in 425 PA; 37.6%) and has maintained a gigantic .223 ISO. He’s still a bit of a mystery in terms of projection because it’s hard to see a guy struggling to make contact in the minors hitting in the majors, but this season appears to be very solid improvement at the very least.

A nice return from the DL for Micah Johnson, who has played just 11 games with Charlotte now.
Meanwhile, Carlos Sanchez is on a nine-game hitting streak and has his season batting average over .300. He’s hitting .378 during his hitting streak and even has a homer during the run. His overall line is .305/.375/.418.

Somewhat quietly Jason Coats has 10 home runs on the season and is the hottest hitter on the Dash. He has a 10-game hitting streak that has featured five home runs. Coats is 24, but he’s showing a really nice combination of contact (14.6 K%) and power (.201 ISO).

Michalczewski is another bat absolutely on fire. The 19-year-old is on a 12-game hitting streak with five multi-hit games during the run. Three of his four home runs this season have come in the past six games. He’s hitting .290/.376/.452.
