White Sox affiliates went 4-3 on Tuesday, with strong showings from Chris Beck and Tyler Danish, as well as Chris Bassitt’s return to the mound.
Charlotte 4, Durham 2
The Knights were able to get a win after a solid start from recently promoted Chris Beck. Beck struck out five batters over five innings and only gave up one earned run on five hits and a walk. Marcus Semien led the way offensively going 2-3 with a walk and a homer. Josh Phegley went 1-4 with a home run and two RBIs of his own.
Birmingham 3, Tennessee 2
Chris Bassitt‘s return from injury was a triumphant one, allowing no runs over five frames and only allowing one hit, though he did walk and strikeout three. Jared Mitchell went 2-4 with a home run as he tries to vie for a return to Charlotte. Trayce Thompson also showed up with a 2-4 showing of his own while Rangel Ravelo walked and had a sac fly, but went hitless on the evening. Chris Curley’s walk-off single sealed the win.
Winston-Salem 4, Frederick 0
Tyler Danish shut down the Keys as he continues to excel at advanced A ball after early struggles. Danish went five innings and struck out six batters on a night where his pitches reportedly had insane movement for all five innings. Jacob May had a triple that he tried unsucessfully to stretch into an inside-the-park home run against Orioles’ top prospect Dylan Bundy. Cleuluis Rondon continued his bizarre hitting ways in Winston-Salem by going 2-3 with a strikeout, raising his average to .279 which is a remarkable improvement over his .233 average in Kannapolis. Courtney Hawkins went hitless, but drew two walks and didn’t strikeout against Bundy.
Lakewood 7, Kannapolis 2
It was a rough day for the Intimidators as starter Thad Lowry and Andrew Mitchell combined to allow seven earned runs before the 5th inning was over. Brett Austin went 1-4 with an RBI and Adam Engel went 1-2 with two walks.
Missoula 5, Great Falls 4
The Voyagers fell to the Osprey as they weren’t able to string together enough hits into runs. Chevy Clarke had a home and drove in two, Zach Fish had a homer of his own and went 2-4. Mason Robbins also went 2-4 on the night.
DSL White Sox 4, DSL Reds 3
The DSL White Sox won behind a strong start from Kevin Escorcia who only allowed one hit and no walks over six innings while striking out eight. Yolberth Gideon went 2-4 with an RBI, Hanleth Otano went 1-2 with a walk and double and Ramon Beltre scored two runs after going 1-3 with a walk and RBI of his own.
AZL Padres 8, AZL White Sox 0
The AZL White Sox had as rough a night as possible. The only hitter to get a hit was Jose Barraza while starter Luis Martinez was shelled for eight runs, seven earned, in four innings.
