8/9/14 Recap: Bassitt, Beck and Danish keep dealing

It was a rough night for White Sox affiliates as they went 2-4, but with four big pitching prospects going in Tyler Danish, Luis Martinez, Chris Beck, and Chris Bassitt it was a nice night for some good pitching performances, even if they couldn’t get backed up with runs.
Pawtucket 5, Charlotte 2
The Knights bullpen took after its parent club and blew a lead late, with the Red Sox not scoring until the 8th inning. This ended up wasting a good start by Chris Beck, who gave up four hits in six innings while striking out three and walking two. Jared Mitchell started the game off with a bang as he hit a home run and then added two walks later on. Micah Johnson went one for four with a walk, Avisail Garcia returned to mortality by going 0-4 and Matt Tuiasosopo went 2-3 with a double and walk.
Birmingham 5, Hunstville 0
Chris Bassitt would like everyone to know that he’s pitching well in his return by striking out eleven batters in six innings while only allowing three hits and two walks. That set the tone for the Barons as Joey DeMichele got his first hit in AA going one for four with two RBIs. Jeremy Farrell went two for four with two RBIs of his own and Michael Earley went three for four.
Lynchburg 4, Winston-Salem 1
Tyler Danish keeps mowing down the competition after his brief rough patch when he was promoted to the Dash. Danish went six innings, allowed no hits, walked two and struck out five. Sadly, his bullpen immediately gave away the lead as the Dash couldn’t muster any offense. Courtney Hawkins went one for three with a walk while Adam Engel went zero for three in his A+ debut, though he did drive in the only Dash run on a sac fly.
Hagerstown 9, Kannapolis 9
It was a rough day for the Intimidators as they could barely muster any offense. Jacob Morris went 2-3 with a double and Ryan Leonards went one for four with a triple and an RBI. Starter Thad Lowry went 5.2 innings, gave up three runs, walked three, and only struck out one.
Grand Junction 2, Great Falls 0
Luis Martinez went five innings and only allowed one run, but that was too much as the Voyagers were blanked by the Rockies. Tyler Shryock went one for four, Louie Lechich went one for three with a double and Jackson Laumann went one for three.
DSL White Sox 7, DSL Reds 2
It was a good day for the DSL White Sox as they put up seven runs, three off of a home run from Hanleth Otano . Droherlin Mejia went two for four, Ylexander Villarroel went two for three with a walk, and Daniel Gonzalez went one for four with three RBIs.
