It was a full day of action for the White Sox affiliates as the Barons and the AZL Sox had double-headers. The Arizona League Sox games were started by two rehabbing top pitching prospects and Carlos Rodon had his best professional outing in Winston-Salem.
Syracuse 8, Charlotte 6
A late rally fell short as the Knights were out-hit by the Syracuse Chiefs. Matt Davidson launched his 19th home run of the season and Avisail Garcia went 2-5 with a double. Andy Wilkins went 2-3 with a double and a walk, while Carlos Sanchez chipped in a two hit night as well.
Jackson 2, Birmingham 1 (Game 1)
Starter Mike Recchia pitched all 6.1 innings, but allowed a walk-off run in the bottom of the 7th (Double-headers in the minors only go to seven innings). Trayce Thompson went 2-3 and Rangel Ravelo went 1-2 with a walk and a triple.
Jackson 8, Birmingham 1 (Game 2)
The Baron pitchers only allowed three hits, but Jackson took advantage of three errors to blow the game open. Rangel Ravelo went 2-3 with a double and had a stat-stuffing double-header, going 3-5 with a walk, a double, and a triple.
Lynchburg 4, Winston-Salem 3
The Carlos Rodon experience continues, as he had his longest and most dominant professional outing yet. Rodon struck out seven batters and didn’t allowed an earned run over his 3.2 innings of work. JJ Cooper of Baseball America was on hand to scout Rodon’s start and needless to say he was impressed.

Unfortunately, the Dash couldn’t capitalize on Rodon’s start and were nipped by the Hillcats. Cleuluis Rondon, the shortshop known for his excellent defense, committed three errors but went 4-5 at the plate. Courtney Hawkins, Trey Michalczewski, Keon Barnum, and Adam Engel all had one hit a piece.
Kannapolis 9, Lexington 5
The Intimidators busted the game open with a seven run 7th inning for their third straight victory over Lexington. Starter Chris Freudenberg went four innings and gave up four runs, but he did strike out seven. Danny Hayes went 2-3 with a two walks and former Olympian Eddy Alvarez went 3-4 in his second game with Kannapolis.
Great Falls 8, Orem 4
The Voyagers pounded out 16 hits and everyone in the lineup had at least one hit to earn the victory. Catcher Dillon Haupt and outfielder Zach Fish homered and Louie Lechich had three hits to lead the way. Right-hander Matt Cooper got the win by throwing 2.2 scoreless innings and striking out five.
AZL White Sox 8, AZL Athletics 2 (Game 1)
Frank Montas made his second rehab start with the Arizona League White Sox, tossing three innings, giving up one earned run over two hits, and striking out five. Micker Adolfo went 1-3 with a walk and Antonio Rodriguez went 1-2 and walked twice.
AZL Athletics 2, AZL White Sox 1 (Game 2)
Adam Lopez also made his second rehab start and threw 1.2 scoreless innings, striking out four and only giving up one hit. Offensively, Micker Adolfo and Antonio Rodriguez went 1-3 but the Sox were held to four hits.
