Nick Nastrini
Nick Nastrini ended his season on a high note with the Knights. Although he was slated to pitch earlier in the week, weather pushed that start back to Sunday, and the Knights couldn’t have been more thrilled about the 23 year old hurling five perfect innings. For the season, Nastrini pitched 114 ⅔ innings with a 4.08 ERA, 1.31 WHIP, 139 strikeouts and 54 walks in three stops (Tulsa [AA Dodgers], Birmingham, and Charlotte). Since being acquired by the White Sox, Nastrini threw 36 innings with a 4.75 ERA, a 1.31 WHIP, 51 strikeouts and 17 walks.
José Rodríguez
José Rodríguez had a great week to cap off his 2023 campaign. The 22 year old infielder was getting in the groove at the plate, making a lot of contact in typical Popeye fashion. For the season, Rodríguez appeared in 106 games slashing .262/.292/.437 with a .729 OPS, 40 extra base hits (19 doubles, 21 home runs), and went 31/40 (77.5%) on stolen bases between two stops (Birmingham and Charlotte).
Cristian Mena
Cristian Mena pitched around a fair amount of hits to end his season on a positive note. The 20 year old right hander was aggressively assigned this season, and a late season promotion to AAA continued the aggressiveness. For the entire year, Mena threw an impressive 133 ⅔ innings with a 4.85 ERA, 1.41 WHIP, 156 strikeouts and 64 walks in two stops (Birmingham and Charlotte).
