Trending on the Farm: Noah Schultz and Jacob Gonzalez set for promotions to Birmingham

Jonathan Cannon – MLB Pipeline White Sox #11

After a tough previous start, Jonathan Cannon had a much needed rebound start against Durham. Cannon did allow six base runners in five innings but was able to limit the damage.

Noah Schultz – MLB Pipeline White Sox #2

Noah Schultz had his patented Saturday start for the Dash in Greenville last week and pitched his typical four innings with strong results per usual. Additionally, the 20-year-old is set to be promoted to AA, so he’ll be taking his talents to Birmingham in the very near future.

Grant Taylor – MLB Pipeline White Sox #13

After officially making his professional debut in the previous week, 22-year-old Grant Taylor made his full season affiliate debut last week against Fayetteville. Taylor was showing flashes of his exceptional stuff that made him a 2023 second round pick.

George Wolkow – MLB Pipeline White Sox #14

George Wolkow continued his strong start to the ACL season, ripping five more extra base hits last week. Through 10 games, Wolkow now has eight extra base hits (six doubles, two home runs) and a .333/.422/.641 slash line with a 1.063 OPS.

Colson Montgomery – MLB Pipeline White Sox #1

Colson Montgomery battled an illness last week, missing two games before returning to action on Sunday.

Jake Eder – MLB Pipeline White Sox #10

While Jake Eder’s stat line doesn’t look appealing, it masks some defensive lapses that were ruled hits that ultimately fall back on him. On a brighter note, Eder does own some stronger underlying metrics with a 2.55 FIP, 3.14 xFIP, and an 11.53 K/9.

Edgar Quero & Peyton Pallette – MLB Pipeline White Sox #4 & 12

May has been a month of a slump for Edgar Quero at the plate. Across 15 games in May, Quero has a .164/.233/.236 slash line with four walks to 13 strikeouts and just two extra base hits (double, home run).

Peyton Pallette has not had a kind welcome to the South Atlantic League. Pallette struggled once again and is now sporting a 7.25 ERA with a 1.84 WHIP across 22.1 innings.

Jacob Gonzalez & Nick Nastrini – MLB Pipeline White Sox #7 & 8

Jacob Gonzalez had an off week and scuffled at the plate against Greenville last week. Gonzalez is reportedly set to be promoted to AA Birmingham.

Nick Nastrini allowed three solo home runs in his outing against Durham, two of which came in his final inning of work which made his mostly effective start appear to be a little less effective on the whole.

Wilmer Difo

32-year-old veteran infielder Wilmer Difo had an outstanding week for the Knights, producing a 1.500 OPS in five games with five extra base hits (three doubles, two home runs) and eight RBI as well as going 2-for-2 in stolen bases since being signed as a FA by the White Sox.

Chuckie Robinson

29-year-old veteran catcher Chuckie Robinson swung a hot bat last week against Durham, amassing a 1.367 OPS in four games with two home runs and seven RBI.

Zach DeLoach – MLB Pipeline White Sox #29

25-year-old outfielder Zach DeLoach was strong at the plate, batting .353/.429/.706 for a 1.135 OPS with two home runs and five RBI in five games while also being successful on his only stolen base attempt.

Oscar Colás

25-year-old outfielder Oscar Colás knocked three extra base hits (two doubles, home run) en route to a 1.100 OPS across six games with six RBI.

Justin Anderson

31-year-old veteran Justin Anderson pitched well in both of his relief appearances for the Knights, securing two saves in two total innings of work with just one hit allowed and three strikeouts.

Dalton Roach

28-year-old righty Dalton Roach pitched well in his only appearance against Durham last week, throwing two innings allowing one hit and one walk while striking out five.

Brooks Baldwin – MLB Pipeline White Sox #24

23-year-old shortstop Brooks Baldwin led the way for the Barons offense last week against Chattanooga. Baldwin had a .316/.500/.474 line for a .974 OPS with a home run, three RBI, and went 4-for-4 on stolen bases. Baldwin is the Barons team leader in OPS, checking in at .913.

Alsander Womack

25-year-old infielder Alsander Womack had a nice week for the Barons, ending the series against the Lookouts with a .938 OPS with one home run, two RBI, and was successful on his only stolen base attempt.

Tim Elko

25-year-old first baseman Tim Elko sported an even .900 OPS while knocking three extra base hit (two doubles, triple) in five games last week.

Mason Adams – MLB Pipeline White Sox #20

Once again, Mason Adams was effective on the mound for the Barons. The command in this outing wasn’t as sharp as we’re accustomed to seeing in a typical Mason Adams start as he walked two and hit two batters, but the 24-year-old was able to work around those hiccups to keep the Lookouts in check.

Ky Bush – MLB Pipeline White Sox #17

24-year-old Ky Bush had another fantastic outing for the Barons, as his strong season continues. Bush now has a 2.09 ERA and 47 strikeouts in 38.2 innings.

Drew Thorpe – MLB Pipeline White Sox #3

23-year-old Drew Thorpe had a rocky beginning to his start against Chattanoog before settling in and cruising the rest of the way. In 42 innings pitched this season with the Barons, Thorpe has a 1.50 ERA, a 0.93 WHIP, and 40 strikeouts.

Jairo Iriarte – MLB Pipeline White Sox #9

22-year-old Jairo Iriarte had a two start week for the Barons and makes the list here for posting gaudy strikeout totals in each outing. In his first start that went six and two thirds innings, Iriarte struck out 11 with just one walk allowed. In his second outing, Iriarte struck out 13 across seven innings of work with one walk once again. Iriarte did allow seven earned runs combined in both starts, but the biggest takeaway here was the major reduction in free passes permitted, especially coming off of an eight walk outing in the previous series.

Shawn Goosenberg

24-year-old outfielder Shawn Goosenberg paced the Dash offense against Greenville, sending six of his 10 hits for extra bases (five doubles, home run) while driving in four. Goosenberg had a 1.164 OPS across six games and went 2-for-3 on stolen bases.

Bryce Willits

24-year-old first baseman Bryce Willits finished last week’s series playing in all six games, knocking three extra base hits (two doubles, home run), seven RBI, and went 2-for-2 on stolen bases with a 1.007 OPS.

Jordan Sprinkle

23-year-old infielder Jordan Sprinkle produced a 1.042 OPS in four games against the Drive, hitting three doubles and going 3-for-3 on stolen bases.

Samuel Zavala – MLB Pipeline White Sox #6

19-year-old outfielder Samuel Zavala makes the list after a unique week. Zavala only had two hits in five games, one of which was a home run, but walked nine times and ended the series with a 1.005 OPS.

Riley Gowens

24-year-old Riley Gowens had a stellar outing against the Drive last week. In seven starts, Gowens has 48 strikeouts, a 3.76 ERA, and an 0.89 WHIP in 38.1 innings pitched for the Dash.

Tyler Schweitzer

23-year-old southpaw Tyler Schweitzer was extremely efficient in his quality start against Greenville.

Shane Murphy

23-year-old Shane Murphy occupied the piggyback role and once again he excelled. Murphy has yet to allow an earned run in any of his four appearances this season (12 innings) and has 13 strikeouts with a 0.33 WHIP.

Bryce Collins

23-year-old recently promoted reliever Bryce Collins made his High-A debut for the Dash last week and across two scoreless appearances, Collins threw two total innings allowing two hits while striking out five.

Ryan Galanie

23-year-old infielder Ryan Galanie continues to annihilate Carolina League pitching. Galanie hit .333/.481/.714 for a 1.195 OPS last week against Fayetteville with a triple, two home runs, and six RBI. In 27 games in Kannapolis this season, Galanie holds a .349/.441/.569 slash line with a 1.010 OPS, four home runs, and 25 RBI in 109 at-bats.

Mikey Kane

22-year-old infielder Mikey Kane was solid in four games against Fayetteville last week, ending the series with a 1.071 OPS and six hits in 13 at-bats.

Ronny Hernandez

19-year-old catcher Ronny Hernandez had a nice week for the Cannon Ballers. In five games played, Hernandez had a .368/.429/.474 slash line for a .903 OPS with five RBI, two doubles, and did not strike out in 19 at-bats.

Drew McDaniel

23-year-old Drew McDaniel had a stellar outing against Fayetteville last week. McDaniel has now made six starts and in 32.2 innings has a 2.20 ERA with 38 strikeouts and a 1.07 WHIP.

Tommy Vail

Recently turned 25-year-old Tommy Vail made two appearances last week and was especially outstanding taking over for the suspended game. Across both of his appearances, Vail threw four scoreless innings allowing two hits and struck out nine.

Dario Borrero & Edrick Felix

20-year-old first baseman Dario Borrero was strong at the plate for the ACL White Sox, reaching base safely nine times (six hits, three walks) in three games with two doubles and a 1.492 OPS.

22-year-old infielder Edrick Felix was recently sent to the ACL and has swung a hot bat upon his arrival. Felix slashed .385/.471/.846 for a 1.317 OPS with two home runs, 10 RBI and was successful on his only stolen base attempt.

Abraham Nunez & Javier Mogollon – MLB Pipeline White Sox #22

18-year-old outfielder Abraham Nunez had a strong week, batting .417/.588/.667 for a 1.255 OPS with a double, triple, five RBI, and went 4-for-4 on stolen bases.

18-year-old infielder Javier Mogollon was another member of the ACL White Sox offense to have a strong week at the dish, batting .353/.500/.647 for an 1.147 OPS with three extra base hits (two doubles, home run) and went 5-for-5 on stolen bases.

Angelo Hernandez

18-year-old catcher Angelo Hernandez rounded out the strong offensive performers for the ACL White Sox, knocking a home run and a .968 OPS in three games.

Tristan Stivors

25-year-old righty Tristan Stivors is out on a rehab assignment in the ACL and was dominating the competition. Stivors made three appearances throwing three and one third scoreless innings allowing two hits, one walk, and struck out seven.

Daniel González

22-year-old southpaw Daniel González pitched quite well in both of his appearances last week. In three and one third scoreless innings, González allowed just one hit and struck out six.

Emerson Talavera

21-year-old righty Emerson Talavera made the most of his lone appearance, pitching three scoreless innings with five strikeouts.
