White Sox Announce 2025 Player Development Staff
On Wednesday, the White Sox announced their 2025 player development staff, led by Director of Player Development Paul Janish. Janish was brought in last offseason, amidst the first crop of new hires by Chris Getz.
Sergio Santos (AAA Charlotte), Guillermo Quiroz (AA Birmingham), Patrick Leyland (A+ Winston-Salem), Chad Pinder (A Kannapolis) and Daniel González (Arizona Complex League White Sox) will serve as the organization’s managers in 2025.
Santos spent 2024 as the skipper of AA Birmingham, leading them to a Southern League title, and is awarded with a promotion to the penultimate stop before becoming a big leaguer. Quiroz was at the helm of High-A Winston-Salem, and fills Santos’ spot in Birmingham. Pat Leyland, son of Hall of Fame manager Jim Leyland, brought Kannapolis to the Carolina League Championship in 2024, and he moves up the totem pole to Winston-Salem. Gonzalez returns for his third year as the manager of the ACL White Sox.

Chad Pinder gets his first crack at managing in Kannapolis after retiring from MLB in 2022. Pinder spent 7 seasons in Oakland, logging a career 3.7 WAR across 553 games. You may recognize him from the Athletics team that knocked the White Sox out of the playoffs in 2020. Pinder went 3-9 with 2 RBIs in the series.
Coordinators returning include Ryan Newman (field/infield), Matt Zaleski (pitching), Curt Hasler (assistant pitching), Alan Zinter (hitting), Danny Santin (assistant hitting) and Julio Mosquera (catching).
Mike Gellinger and Doug Sisson, who were on the White Sox major-league coaching staff for the last two months of the 2024 season, have returned to the player development system. Gellinger will serve as the bench coach with the ACL White Sox, while Sisson will serve as a special assistant to the senior vice president/general manager.
Phil Nevin, after being considered for the open managerial position, joins the organization as a special assistant. Nevin spent 2022 and 2023 managing the Los Angeles Angels. Rounding out the prominent new hires, Scott Aldred will serve as the Charlotte Knights pitching coach. Aldred pitched in the big leagues from 1990-2000 for 6 different teams. After retiring, he was the pitching coach for the Yankees AA affiliate in 2007 and 2008, before moving up to AAA. He spent 2009-2015 as the pitching coach there.
