White Sox Minor League Recap 8/4/2015: Fulmer and Clark combine to pitch Dash to victory

Buffalo 7, Charlotte 3
Matt Davidson tied the game in the 7th inning with a two-run home run but the Charlotte bullpen could not hold it, as the Knights dropped their fifth straight game. Davidson’s homer was his 17th of the year, which leads the Knights and is third most in the International League. Dayan Viciedo also hit a home run, his first since rejoining the Knights while going 2-5. Hector Noesi started the game and threw seven innings while only allowing three runs. But Terence Marin gave up four runs over 1.2 innings and was saddled with the loss.
Tennessee 6, Birmingham 5
Tim Anderson hit his 10th triple of the year and Danny Hayes added three hits but it wasn’t enough as the Barons fell to the Tennessee Smokies. Starter Mark Blackmar could not avoid the big inning as he gave up three runs in the 1st and 6th inning. Reliever Raul Fernandez pitched two scoreless innings to hold the Smokies at six, but the Barons could not muster a rally.
Winston-Salem 4, Carolina 2
Recently anointed FutureSox #1 prospect  Carson Fulmer pitched a career high three innings while striking out three batters, walking none, and allowing one run. Fulmer has had excellent command thus far, he has only allowed one walk over eight innings while striking out ten batters. Fulmer’s start is big news, but Brian Clark earned the win by relieving Fulmer and pitching six innings without allowing an earned run. Clark’s great performance lowers his ERA to a sparkling 1.97. Keep an eye on the lefty sleeper prospect to shoot up ranking lists if he continues to pitch well.
The Dash trio of Adam Engel, Jake Peter, and Trey Michalczewski did most of the heavy lifting for the offense. Engel led off the game with his 5th home run of the season as he went 2-3 with two walks. Engel has been on fire recently, he is riding a nine game hitting streak and is hitting .375 over that span with more walks (9) and stolen bases (7) than strikeouts (6). Jake Peter went 2-5 with a double and a stolen base and Trey Michalczewski went 2-3 with a walk.
Asheville 3, Kannapolis 2
The Intimidators dropped a low scoring game as starter Zach Thompson was effectively wild during his 4.2 innings. Thompson allowed six hits and six walks, but only let one run score as he struck out six batters. However, Brad Salgado allowed two runs to score during his watch in the 8th inning to give the Asheville Tourists the victory. Catcher Brett Austin went 2-4 and gunned down a would-be base stealer. Outfielder Mason Robbins tripled and first baseman Alexander Simon went 1-4 with a stolen base.
Northwest League All-Stars 6, Pioneer League All-Stars 5
Three Great Falls Voyagers participated in the All-Star game Tuesday night as the Pioneer League dropped the game on a walk-off hit. Lefty Tanner Banks started the game for the Pioneer League and allowed one earned run over one inning. Catcher Zach Fish started the game at DH and went 0-2. Righty Evin Einhardt also allowed one run over one inning in relief.
The Voyagers will be back in action on Thursday as the hit the road to take on the Orem Owlz.
